To be a lifelong volunteer opportunity for people of all ages, races, and professions to learn and express themselves through instrumental music. To provide free family entertainment to the people of Olathe and the greater Kansas City area. To represent and promote our community with music.
It has always been said that music is a common thread between generations, and the Olathe Civic Band proves this fact. The organization is a non-profit, 501(c)3, all-volunteer, non-audition, multi-generational band that has been entertaining audiences in the Olathe area for over two decades. Its members range in age from 16 to 84, and among its members are teachers, accountants, chemists, bus drivers, exterminators, farmers, salesmen, moms, dads, grandparents and students. Under the direction of award winning director, Ed Colson, the Band has doubled in size to nearly 100 members since 1998. The love of music is the one thing everyone in this group shares. It is the only band of its kind!
The Olathe Civic Band has become one of the most popular bands of its type in the entire Kansas City area. It is an integral part of the Olathe Arts Program, and is the only group that brings its art to the community. The Band performs at various events throughout the Olathe area, and even holds concerts at retirement villages where the residents may not have the opportunity to attend a community event. This is truly one of the most active volunteer groups in the entire Metropolitan area. No other civic organization appeals to a broader range of people, and performs where they live and gather.
Thank you for your interest in our organization.
